Russell Arnold pulls Chennai to glory !




A swashbuckling innings by Arnold ( 66 not out in 40 balls ) saw Chennai Superstars home.

Kolkota Tigers batted first and Craig McMillan played a great innings of 69, followed by A Jhunjhunwalla ( 50 n o ) and a cameo from Rohan Gavaskar ( 23 n o out of 8 balls ). Score well over 9 per over at 185 !


Ian Harvey started the proceedings for Chennai with a hefty 49. He was removed by a super ball from Pritam Das, which toppled his offstump. Then Arnold took over and single handedly won the match !

Chennai now moves up. She was down as the 8th. Lahore is still on the first position

We had 2 magnificent nerve baiting finishes yesterday. Dravid's men trouncing the Deccan Chargers by 3 runs and Punjab winning by 9 runs. The final over was bowled by experienced bowlers and they won the game for their teams. Kumble for Bangalore and Pathan for Punjab. Ishant bowls India to a first innings lead !

Ishant proved Gavaskar's word true, as he bowled India to an 11 runs lead ! His pace and bounce accounted for 6 West Indian scalps and he removed Edwards and Rampaul off successive balls, to bowl out West Indies for 190. Earleir, India could only get one wicket before the pre lunch session, that of Chanderpaul, who was clean bowled by Mithun for 37. Then Sharma came back strongly into the game and finished with the great figures of 21.5 - 7 - 55 - 6 ! Ishant was born with Mercury and Moon exalted, in Vasumath Yoga, a yoga for prosperity.
