Bangalore outclass Pune
Kohli continued to be in sublime form, as Bangalore sank Pune by 26 runs ! He is now the wearer of the Orange Cap, having surpassed Sachin as the highest scorer in IPL 2011, with 294 runs. Sachin is ranked second with 276 runs.
Pune won the toss and fielded and Bangalore played some fanatastic cricket.
Gayle and Dilshan started very well, putting on 57 for the first wicket. Gayle charmed the Bangalore crowd with some lusty hitting, four fours and four sixes. When he left at 74, Kohli took over. Kohli's 67 was full of exquisite shots, as he also blasted four sixes and four sixes.
Bram Villiers scored a sweet 26 off 20 and S Tiwari hit 14 off 8. A mammoth 181 was piled up by the in form Kohli, Gayle and Villiers !
Kamran Khan was hit off his length and his 3 overs yielded 47 runs. Rahul Sharma, was the pick of the bowlers and it was he who got rid of Gayle and Dilshan. Thomas took two wickets !
Pune started slowly and never seemed to be catching up with Bangalore. Their main impact players, Uthappa and Yuvraj, could not rise to the occasion. Even though Yuvraj dazzled with some delectable shots, with a superb 41 with three mighty sixes, he couldnt pull it off. Uthappa was not out 23.
Jesse Ryder showed glimpses of his class but then he holed out to Syed for 51. A set batsman should never get out like this. M Pandey, another blaster, was out for 19 and all Pune could get from the allotted 20 was 155 and fell short by 26 runs.
This is Pune's fifth loss and it seems like an anticlimax to a team which started with two straight wins !
