A - Because it is the Day of Summer Solstice, Sayana Karkyadi.

Q - What is the significance of that day ?
a -  On that day, the gross RA of the Sun touches 90 degrees and the
Sun initiates the Southern Solstice, Sayana Dakshinayana.
